Swedish-Portuguese Business Forum

The Forum took place on the 02 October, in Stockholm.
Business Sweden and AICEP - Trade & Investment Agency, jointly organised a Swedish-Portuguese Business Forum in connection with the State Visit of Portugal´s president Aníbal Cavaco Silva.

President Aníbal Cavaco Silva was accompanied by a business delegation with high level representatives from multiply business sectors. With a large focus on innovation and technology Portugal shows high skills in ICT, auto industry, health, renewable energy, biotechnology and IT industries.

Investments in these areas, together with strengthening of research, development and education sector, have allowed Portugal to improve their economic competitiveness and offer a well-educated workforce within these areas.

For the first time during the second quarter of 2013 Portugal obtained a decrease in its unemployment rate and a growth of its GDP for the first time in the last two years. Portugal also gained a surplus of its trade balance and can through this increased export also be seen as a hub for expanding to other Portuguese speaking countries as well as to Colombia, Chile, Peru and Mexico.
