CAAR receives Special Portugal Award in Bordeaux The Casa Agricola Alexandre Grasses (CAAR) received the Special Portugal Award, awarded during the 13th Edition of the international contest Citadelles du Vin, held last month in Bordeaux, France.
The Regional Wine São Miguel Alicante Bouschet 2011 (caste characteristic of Alentejo) was voted the best Portuguese wine in this contest. Beyond this special mention, were also gold medals wines of Black Pepper CAAR 2011 2011 Merino and Secrets in 2011.
Representing Portugal were 178 wines, 23 of which received Gold Medals and 29 Silver. The Special Prize of Portugal, reached by CAAR, results from the choice made between the 23 gold medals achieved by Portuguese wines.
This year there were awarded 16 Special Prizes by Country, in which Portugal is represented by wine CAAR. This is a distinction that puts Portugal alongside countries such as France, Spain, Italy, Chile, Australia, Canada, Argentina, USA and Hungary, and proves that Portuguese wines are among the best in the world.
The contest Cidadelles du Vin, which featured a jury of 60 members from 22 countries, is well recognized internationally and is considered one of the most important in the world. This issue were tendered in 1159 wines from 29 countries.
To CAAR, the recognition of the international market have been visible through the distinctions that their wines have achieved in countries like USA, Germany, China, London, among others. CAAR's strategy goes to grow in markets where it is already present (USA, Brazil, Belgium, Austria, Germany, Holland, England, Ireland, China and Angola), consolidate the actions in the markets of Mexico and South Africa and develop a approach to new markets such as Russia and South Korea.
In 2012, CAAR recorded average growth rates in the double-digit. Production rose to 2.5 million bottles and turnover increased by 15%. Currently, CAAR has 150 customers worldwide.
