NAV Portugal
NAV Portugal?s main mission is to provide air traffic services in the flight information regions (FIR) under Portuguese responsibility ? Lisbon and Santa Maria, ensuring that national and international regulations are complied with in the best safety conditions, optimising capacities, and emphasizing efficiency while not neglecting environmental concerns. The company carries out its work on mainland Portugal and in the autonomous regions of the Azores and Madeira. The company?s head offices are situated next to Lisbon Airport, as are the Lisbon Air Traffic Control Centre and the Training Centre. The Oceanic Control Centre is located on the island of Santa Maria in the Azores autonomous region. In additional to these two important centres, NAV Portugal also has other infrastructure elements with air traffic services functioning in the control towers of Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Funchal, Porto Santo, Santa Maria, Ponta Delgada, Horta, and Flores airports, and provides air traffic services due to an agreement with Cascais Municipality at Cascais aerodrome. In this last one provides air traffic services due to an agreement with Cascais Municipality. To carry out its air traffic control mission fully NAV Portugal has a considerable amount of equipment and many technical installations (radar, radio and communications stations) in several points of mainland Portugal and the autonomous regions.
