The AEVP - Association of Port Wine - is a private nonprofit established in January 1975, based in Vila Nova de Gaia. The main purpose of AEVP, statutorily enshrined, is to "represent and protect the interests of its Members and the promotion and defense of Industry and Trade of the Port and Douro Wines and other wine products from the Douro Region throughout the national space and abroad. " The Associated AEVP includes 16 that currently represent about 90% of the sale of port wine and 35% of Douro wines with PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) and PGI (Protected Geographical Indication), a percentage that reflects your unique positioning unquestioned importance in the sector and a player in this operation. AEVP holds the vice chairmanship of the Interprofessional Council of the Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro and Porto (IVDP), which participates at various levels, and is the only representative in the Chamber of Commerce Port of Council. The AEVP is present since 1990 in a trade association representing the European wine called Comité Européen des Entreprises Vins (CEEV) in Brussels.
