Quinta dos Vales awarded Portuguese Producer 2013

Quinta dos Vales awarded Portuguese Producer 2013 The China Wine & Spirits Awards (CWSA), the largest and most prestigious wine competition in Hong Kong and China, held its fourth major tournament China Wine & Spirits Awards 2013 Best Value on 4 March 2013 in the Hall of the Mira Hotel in Hong Kong. The results were revealed on the March 8th.

Quinta dos Vales found himself placed among the winners of the Best Value CWSA 2013, being awarded a double gold medal for its "Marquês dos Vales Selecta Tinto 2010" and "grabbing" the trophy of "Portuguese Producer of the Year 2013 ".

The CWSA Best Value 2013 featured 3300 of the world's best wines, spirits and sparkling products, with subscribers from 25 countries competing for success. The record number of entries reflects the importance of the Chinese market and the recognition and respect for the CWSA Best Value 2013 awards, both in this market and internationally.

The event was a huge success, with senior representatives of the Government and overwhelming media coverage throughout China and the rest of the world, who were present to lend their support in this year's most important date in the calendar of winery events on Hong Kong and China so far.

The CWSA was launched in cooperation with leading wine buyers from China to recognize the most suitable wines to the chinese taste.

The CWSA are the only awards in the world judged specifically for the China market and are totally focused on consumer preferences and demand. The judges of the CWSA understand the often underestimated demands of the wine consumers not only in the big cities but also the most remote provinces of China.

The judges are all important decision makers and buyers in the growing Chinese market. Among them are the main chinese importers of wine, distributors, wholesalers, owners of chain restaurants and sommeliers of Greater China and include the most relevant individuals from Summergate Fine Wines, Miramar Group, Shangri -La Hotel, American Club, The Langham, Upper House, Novotel, Kerry Wines, Galaxy Macau, Fionson Group, The Diary Farm Company Ltd, Berry Bros and Rudd Watson's Wine Wholesale.

The main criterion is quality / price factor. The 100 judges did blind tasting of wines submitted to the competition based on price levels, looking at eight important price ranges, from over ? 20 to less than 2?. Medals are awarded in each category and the winners thus show their fitness and approval to and for the market.

Kelly England, president of the China Wine & Spirits Awards, said that "the whole world, from Bordeaux to Brazil speaks of Hong Kong and China as the ultimate wine market. The CWSA allows, in its unique way, that the most famous brands in the world can compete with crafted "boutique" wines, to reach the ultimate CWSA gold standard. "
