Portucel Soporcel present at fair in the Middle East The group Portucel Soporcel, and European leader in the field of fine papers of uncoated printing and writing papers, is participating for the first time at Paperworld Middle East, the largest trade show dedicated to paper and office supplies held in the region.
This region is of increasing strategic importance to the Group, since the launch of the new paper mill in Setúbal, which allowed to achieve an average growth of 21% per year.
With a presence of 20 years in the Middle East, the Group's products and brands have been arousing a growing interest among distributors of paper and end customers in these markets.
Paperworld Middle East will be held from 5 to 7 March 2013 in Dubai. The last year's edition welcomed over 5000 visitors, with 239 exhibitors from 35 countries, constituting itself as an extremely important business platform in the region.
The participation of Portucel Soporcel at this event will strengthen its presence in the Middle East, Africa and Asia, markets with significant growth potential for its own brands, which now account for over two-thirds of the sales of products manufactured in sheets, which stand out due to their high standards of quality, innovation and environmental sustainability.
The largest fair in the sector in this region emerges as an important opportunity to disclose the role of Group brands to potential customers and business partners, which are the mirror of a successful strategy applied research, sophisticated technology and innovative strategic marketing.
In 2012, Portucel Soporcel Group products were sold to 113 countries on five continents, especially Europe and the USA, 33% of its exports directed to markets outside the European Community. The Group was responsible for 88% of European exports of UWF paper for uncoated printing and writing for North America, 52% in Africa, 32% to the Middle East, 45% to Latin America and 3% for Asia, indicators that illustrate their strong international presence and reveal a true potential for growth in the Middle East.
Own brands highlighted in Paperworld Middle East 2013
Over three days, the group will present their major brands of paper - Navigator, Pioneer, Inacopia, Explorer, Target, Discovery and Multioffice - with special emphasis on Navigator, the world leader in the premium segment sales of office paper. This brand marked its 20th anniversary in 2012, having recorded since 2009 a significant growth of 24% per year in the markets of the Middle East.
Present in over 100 countries, the Navigator papaer was in 2011 considered the most valuable trademark in Europe by Brand Equity Tracking Survey's study , the Opticom International Research, which focused on office paper. It is a product of exceptional quality with high performance in all office equipment, excellent quality printing on laser printers and inkjet printers and 99.99% jam-free. Its thickness and opacity are high, which allows for use on both sides, and its softness is unmatched, which means a reduction in the consumption of ink or toner while maintaining excellent print quality. The Navigator paper's levels of abrasivity are greatly reduced, thereby contributing to the durability of the equipment and reduced maintenance costs.
The Group reaches new volume highs of production and sales of paper
In 2012, the Portucel Soporcel Group reached new peak levels of production volume and sales role, consolidating its position as Europe's leader in fine uncoated printing and writing paper (UWF). The Group exports up to 1.25 billion euros, representing 95% of sales of pulp and paper with a turnover of more than 1.5 billion euros.
