The main objective of this participation consists, on the one hand, on disclosing the investment project which the Group is developing in Mozambique and, secondly, to promote brands of premium paper, consolidating its presence in fast-growing markets.

This fair will also contribute to fostering partnerships with clients in Africa and, in particular, Mozambique.

Currently, the Group exports 95 percent of its sales to more than 110 countries and was responsible in 2012 for 52 percent of European exports of uncoated printing and writing paper for Africa, an indicator that illustrates its strong presence this continent.

The 49th edition of FACIM will take place in Marracuene, Maputo, under the theme "Expanding the horizon of your business, optimizing synergies". The Soporcel Group's stand will be integrated into the Pavilion of Portugal.

Project Portucel Mozambique

The vertically integrated investment for forestry, pulp and energy that Portucel Soporcel is developing in Mozambique falls in its internationalization strategy, which seeks to create value sustainably.

Given the very encouraging results obtained in the initial phase of the project, particularly in relation to field trials to determine the plant materials with greater potential and test models of forestry, the Group has, over the first half of 2013, to promote acceleration of forest operations, including the preparation of the launch of the project for the production of clonal nurseries, essential to increase the range of crops.

At the same time, we continued to study in the field of logistics processes, both the supply of raw materials and other inputs to the factory, and shipment of eucalyptus pulp, which will conclude during the second half of year, about the relative merits of different alternatives in question.

"The investment of the Portucel Soporcel group in Mozambique represents a long-term commitment to the development of the country in addition to the economic impact of exports and strengthening of the business, will have a significant contribution to society through employment generation and promotion of agricultural income. Noteworthy are also the non-quantifiable benefits, such as the transfer of technology and management skills", says the Executive Committee of the Portucel Soporcel group.
